What is Radiesse® Dermal Filler?

Unlike hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, Radiesse® dermal filler is made of Calcium Hydroxyapatite. This is a collection of small and smooth calcium spheres suspended in a water-based gel.

Like hyaluronic dermal fillers, Radiesse® is bio-compatible. This means its ingredients are similar to and mimic the natural ingredients found in skin. Therefore, patients do not need to be allergy tested before using it. Radiesse® immediately restores youthful-looking volume and encourages the skin to restore its own collagen.

Who is a Candidate for Radiesse®?

RADIESSE® treats deep wrinkles and facial folds around the nose, mouth, and temples. It’s a great product for adding volume around the cheeks, and it can be suitable for filling certain types of scars. It’s a natural choice for treating thinning and aged hands because the results can be long-lasting and immediately noticeable. RADIESSE® dermal filler is not suitable for lip pumping procedures.

What to Expect from Your Radiesse® Treatment

Individual Radiesse® treatments typically last about 30 minutes. Appointments take about 15 minutes longer if you would like topical numbing cream applied to the site of injection to reduce discomfort. We offer topical numbing cream free of charge.

Most patients feel a slight pinching or mild ache immediately after the injection which usually goes away within a few minutes. Mild swelling and bruising are the most common side effects.

What to Expect from Radiesse® Results

Skin loses collagen as it ages. This is the naturally-occurring volumizer in skin which creates youthful appearance. The gradual loss of collagen leads to fine lines, wrinkles, and folds.

Uniquely, Radiesse® immediately restores youthful-looking volume to the skin. It also encourages collagen growth in treated areas over time. As the calcium microspheres are slowly absorbed by the body, your own collagen remains in its place. Results last about 1 year in some patients and up to 15 months in others.
